THE global architecture competition + LIVE COURSE goal

Since ancient times, humanity has drawn inspiration from the natural world. From the structures of ancient civilizations to the nature-influenced designs of modern architecture, nature has consistently been our most profound muse.

This enduring influence is vividly seen in today’s architectural innovations, where buildings emulate the efficient structures of termite mounds for cooling or adopt complex ventilation systems inspired by sea sponges and corals.

Biophilic design and bioclimatic architecture are not just modern trends but are deeply rooted in our design history, reflecting our ongoing connection with the environment.

As we continue to innovate, we now integrate artificial intelligence into architecture, stepping into a future where designs can be optimized for efficiency and sustainability at unprecedented levels. This integration represents a pivotal evolution in our approach to design, combining the intuitive patterns of nature with the analytical power of AI.

The "2030 Architecture Competition + Live Course" is a platform for
exploring this synergy, challenging participants to consider their local climate to create architectural solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally intelligent and environmentally integrated. The overall goal of this event is to catalyze the transformation of architectural design to achieve the 2030 sustainability targets.

The EVENT is structured into three distinct segments:

segment #1:

launch event+live course

This tailored course, delivered live online on June 24 - 28th at 12 PM UTC, is designed to explore the competition core themes: bioclimatic analysis, biophilic design, and artificial intelligence.

The objective of the course is to give each participant an equal chance to create submissions encompassing all the evaluation criteria.

Each area is meticulously chosen to reflect the cutting-edge integration of these elements in architectural design, which is crucial for creating sustainable and innovative environments.

PART 1 | BIOCLIMATIC ANALYSIS

june 24th

This segment addresses the strategic incorporation of local climate data into architectural planning, ensuring designs are naturally more sustainable and energy-efficient.

PART 2 | BIOPHILIC DESIGN

june 26th

We will discover how to integrate natural elements into their projects to enhance occupant connectivity to the natural world, thereby boosting well-being and productivity.

PART 3 | ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

june 28th

We Will focus on how AI can enhance architectural design. Participants will learn about leading AI tools, including their application for generating images using free software.

SEGMENT #2:

competition entries + media showcase

Competitors should submit a comprehensive new project idea along with three boards of 2160 x 3840 pixels, not exceeding 400 words each.

This description should clearly articulate the rationale behind the project, focusing on how bioclimatic analysis, biophilic design, and AI have been utilized to shape the architectural solution.

We strongly recommend presenting ideas related to your city, focusing on showcasing your climate particularities and how you addressed them in your design. Our goal is to demonstrate the power of sustainable design in overcoming climate change with examples from around the globe.

The jury will assess the competition entries based on a comprehensive set of criteria designed to highlight the most innovative and sustainable approaches in architecture:

  • Bioclimatic Innovation: We seek groundbreaking applications of bioclimatic analysis that demonstrate novel and effective ways to harmonize building designs with local climates.
  • Biophilic Design: Entries should creatively incorporate natural elements into architectural designs, enhancing connectivity between occupants and the natural world.
  • AI Integration: Projects must showcase how AI has been used to optimize design solutions, integrating seamlessly with bioclimatic and biophilic principles to enhance functionality and aesthetic appeal.
  • Sustainability: Projects should exemplify sustainability, demonstrating how integrating bioclimatic principles, biophilic design, and AI can lead to environmentally friendly and energy-efficient outcomes.
  • Originality: We value unique design concepts that challenge traditional architectural norms and push the envelope in sustainable design.
  • Presentation: The presentation boards' clarity, organization, and visual impact are crucial. A well-articulated written description should complement visual materials, providing clear insights into the design concepts.

Upon submitting your project and having your entry approved, you will:

  • Receive the Competition Certificate
  • Have Your Project Featured in Our Website
  • Be Featured in the Instagram Stories of Both UGREEN US and UGREEN BR (335k Followers)

This means your work will be showcased to our community, increasing your visibility.

After the entry deadline on July 20th, we will begin both jury and public voting for the best projects. Public voting will enable direct interaction with your Instagram profile, providing immediate and valuable exposure even before winners announcement.
