3 DAYS TO BUILD YOUR SUSTAINABLE LEGACY IN 2025 (AND BEYOND)
Hello!
Today, I want to share something special in sustainability and innovation.
We recently highlighted the Sugarcrete, a revolutionary brick made from sugarcane bagasse, on our Instagram.
Its carbon footprint is just 15% to 20% of a conventional brick, and the receptivity was terrific here and abroad.
It’s great to know about innovations happening worldwide, but there’s a more significant challenge we need to question: how do we make these innovations more accessible and practical, especially in countries far from innovation centers?
The challenge is knowing about these novelties and implementing them concretely and effectively in our reality.
Often, I feel that the world of sustainability disconnects from the material reality of our working class. What do you think about this?
When we talk about sustainability certifications, for example, they often do not apply to most architects. It’s easy to assume that 99% of work on projects that are impossible to be certified but equally impactful.
At UGREEN, we’re also facing this challenge. How do we make knowledge applicable and adjustable to all professionals seeking to apply sustainability?
We think about this daily, and some news is coming…
One of our latest innovations was the creation of artificial intelligence, S.A.M.I. AI, to personalize learning about sustainability in our courses. Our students can now, through AI, adapt their studies to their specific projects, making learning more relevant and applicable.
We believe technology is an excellent ally in making sustainability a tangible and meaningful reality for everyone.
Therefore, we want to hear from you: what are your ideas to make sustainable innovations and practices more present and material in our day-to-day lives?
From S.A.M.I. to Real Sami: Choosing Partners For Your Business
Today, I want to share something personal, illustrating the importance of having good partners in business. Yesterday, my partner Sami had a difficult moment, having to go to the hospital due to the heat. Fortunately, she’s back and well. But this situation made me reflect on how crucial each person is in a team.
As did other team members, I had to take on some of her tasks in Sami’s absence. This highlighted the importance of having reliable and competent partners. Choosing a partner is not easy, and many make the mistake of bringing friends into the business, thinking this will guarantee success.
However, this doesn’t always work. Friends can be great, but seeing beyond friendship in a business environment is crucial. When we start businesses with friends, we tend to overlook each other’s productivity issues.
When I chose Sami as a partner in 2017, it was an intuitive decision, but based on two crucial factors: her integrity and passion for sustainability.
Sami has always been a moral compass for the company, keeping us focused on our goals, especially when I tended to stray due to my mind being full of ideas.
Therefore, when looking for a partner, consider honesty, integrity, and alignment with the values and goals of the company.
I believe it’s easier to have a business partner who becomes a great friend than a friend who becomes a great business partner. That’s what happened with us.
Growing By Adding A Pinch Of Pressure To Your Daily Life
We have exciting news to share with you! We are happy to announce the locations of our following two Green Interiors Day events, which will take place in São Paulo and Milan.
The Green Interiors Day São Paulo will happen on March 18 at the Rebouças Convention Center, 1 day before the Expo Revestir.
The space combines aesthetics with environmental responsibility, located next to the elegant Oscar Freire Street and near Av. Paulista. Additionally, there are dozens of hotels nearby!
The Green Interiors Day Milan will take place on April 15 at the Meliá Milano, 1 day before the Salone Del Mobile.
Milan is a dynamic city, the fashion capital, social life, and the latest trends. The Meliá Milano Hotel is located in the Lotto Zone, a neighborhood in full expansion and close to all the dynamics of the city. It is a hotel known for its fantastic design, as you can see here:
Opening up a bit more behind the scenes, I want to share with you some challenges and learnings these experiences bring us.
I believe it can bring you value.
Organizing an event like this is an exciting challenge that we chose to face. I firmly believe that professional challenges, when well-dimensioned, are essential for growth and development.
Looking back now, we have been preparing since 2016 for these events. Each life, lecture, and the start of English classes finally enabled us to climb the steps to hold these in-person events. They are technical and psychological barrier breakers.
Not to sound like a coach, but what barriers are you setting for yourself?
Last year’s event in São Paulo was a great success and gave us the confidence to plan something even bigger and now, expand to Milan.
This journey is a valuable reminder that, in our careers, we must challenge ourselves a little bit. Challenges should be significant but not insurmountable. It’s about finding the right balance between comfort and discomfort to promote growth without overburdening ourselves.
If you put a little pressure on your goals every day in a healthy way, you will see how much you will evolve.
And in this life, it’s all about the journey.
I hope this reflection inspires you to challenge yourself, always seeking to grow more each day.
Have a great weekend!
Filipe Boni,
