WHAT IS THE MENTORSHIP IN SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT?

More than concepts, this is a hands-on experience.
Over the course of 4 live sessions, you will learn step by step how to apply the UGREEN Canvas — the exclusive methodology that structures our process for creating sustainable architectural concepts.

You will not only understand the theory behind a successful sustainable project but also put into practice the analyses that turn any design into a high-performance case study.

From site analysis to material selection, you will master each stage that defines the future of sustainable construction.

The UGREEN Action Canvas

Climate Actions

Understanding and responding to local climate conditions is crucial for creating energy-efficient and resilient buildings. This analysis enables the application of passive heating and cooling strategies, reducing energy consumption and minimizing the carbon footprint.

Site Actions

Topography, vegetation, hydrology, and soil directly influence sustainability. Considering these factors guides decisions on building orientation, landscaping, drainage, and the use of local materials, protecting ecosystems and strengthening the project’s environmental performance.

Design Actions

Layout, envelope, and materials define building efficiency. Elements such as natural lighting, thermal performance, and material selection ensure occupant comfort, reduce waste, and result in efficient and responsible constructions.

Decarbonization Actions

Focused on strategies to minimize the carbon footprint of buildings throughout their life cycle — from construction to operation and demolition. Decarbonization actions include both structural and non-structural approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase climate resilience.

Nature Actions

By fostering visual and non-visual connections with nature and encouraging responsible material selection, designers can create environmentally responsible and healthy projects. Integrating these opportunities contributes to a more sustainable and comfortable built environment, enhancing occupant well-being and environmental responsibility.

The event is structured into 4 live mentorship sessions where you will learn the complete process to develop a sustainable architectural concept:

class 1 | Tuesday, October 7

Climate and Site Actions

  • Identification of site and surrounding conditions.
  • Reading and interpretation of climate variables.
  • Bioclimatic design guidelines based on local climate.
  • Selection of the building site considering existing constraints.

class 2 | Tuesday, October 14

Design Actions

  • Definition of the optimal building orientation.
  • Evaluation of form and volumetry to maximize thermal and lighting performance.
  • Study of the placement and size of openings, including shading needs.
  • Execution of simulations to validate strategies and initial design decisions.

class 3 | Tuesday, October 21

Decarbonization and Nature Actions

  • Concept of embodied and operational carbon.
  • Impacts of material selection on project performance and emissions.
  • Criteria for choosing materials considering technical and environmental properties.
  • Application of biophilic design strategies to promote occupant health and well-being.

class 4 | Tuesday, October 28

PRACTICAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Joint development of a sustainable architectural concept.
  • Integrated application of climate, site, and design analyses.
  • Consolidation of a complete conceptual project focused on efficiency and sustainability.

why participate:

  • Immediate Implementation: Each session provides tools and concepts you can apply right away in your next project.
  • Market Differentiation: Few professionals truly master the complete sustainable design process.
